Stretch marks during pregnancy are a leading concern for many women during and after her pregnancy term. They usually occur on the breasts and tummy as well as on the bottom and thighs and appear as thin reddish streaks. Pregnancy stretch marks are caused by excessive and rapid weight gain. What happens is that the collagen and elastin in the dermal layer of the skin are stretched to the point of breaking. This is located just below the visible layer and is responsible for retaining the skin’s shape and firmness.
These marks represent a flattened, thin epidermis overlying gaps in the dermis left by stretched or torn elastin fibers. They are among the top most problems of the many pregnancy-related issues. They are a large contributor to the self-confidence of many women.
During pregnancy they are very common for many women. These are not a major health concern. They simply mean that a person’s skin is growing and stretching at a rapid rate, which result in small lines on an individual’s stomach and other areas. They can also be caused by a deficiency in zinc.
Stretch Marks are a concern for millions of mothers, both expecting and current. Very emotional times can occur during a women’s pregnancy as well as the post-partum period.
A technique to aid in relieving pregnancy stretch marks is with the use of Laser therapy. Although laser treatment is a safe method, it may also cause discomfort for three weeks. Using lasers to remove stretch marks works because it repairs the skin’s natural synthesis of collagen.
Stretch marks may not look appealing and can really lower a woman’s self-esteem, but they are not as dangerous as they may look. Maintaining a proper diet and regular exercise can also help to prevent stretch marks from even developing in the first place.
